Weatherhead Gazelles head into their game against Deliverance Church Uganda on Sunday looking to put their loss against Wananchi behind.
The Gazelles surrendered the lead against their bitter rivals last weekend and went on to lose that game 3-2.
That result, coupled with Deliverance’s goalless draw against Rhinos meant Weatherhead dropped a place down to third. They now trail table leaders Wananchi by nine points and that gap is expected to widen later today.
Wananchi are expected to beat KHC meaning they will extend the gap to 12 points. Weatherhead know this. While the title they last won in 2014 appears to be out of their reach now, they can’t afford to let the gap increase.
They will approach the game tomorrow with the hope of getting back to winnings ways. Weatherhead took all the three points when the two sides met in the first round. Fans will expect the same tomorrow, and if victory is attained, Weatherhead will dislodge Deliverance from the second position.
Deliverance are currently second with ten points.
