2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN)winners Democratic Republic of Congo have no chance of defending their title in Kenya come 2018.

This was after they were eliminated by neigbhours Congo Brazzaville in the final round of qualifiers.

Having played to a goalless draw in Kintélé, Brazzaville during the first leg, the second leg ended one goal apiece.

Jean-Marc Makusu Mundele gave Florent Ibenge’s side the lead after 36 minute but Jaures Ngombe had other ideas altogether with the equalizer two minutes later.

Democratic Republic of Congo had played at each of the previous four CHAN tournaments since inception in 2009, winning 2 titles and quarter-finals finishes apiece.

With 15 countries already qualified, only one slot remains to be determined for the 16 finalists.

Guinea hosts Senegal on Tuesday 22nd August 2017. The first leg ended 3-1 in favour of the Terenga Lions from Senegal in Dakar.

The final tournament will be held in Kenya between 11th January to 2nd February 2018.
