Ibrahim ‘Enock’ Kibumba is ready to fight for a first team place at Police FC come next season.
The defender was impressive as the Cops brushed aside league champions KCCA in a pre-season friendly at Lugogo on Tuesday and is already working hard to impress his coaches.
“It’s always nice to have competition in the team,” said Kibumba. “And with the players we have at the moment, you really to have to fight for the place on team,” he added.
“But am not petrified, I will do my best to impress the coaches for a first team place.
Kibumba was arguably among Police’s best defenders in an average last season and will have to compete with Martin Mpuuga, Steven Mugisha and Tayimour Kimera for a place at the heart of defence.
He partnered Kimera for over 70 minutes at Lugogo as goals from Juma Balinya (2) and Ben Ocen gave the visiting side a deserved victory over Mike Mutebi’s charges.
The new premiership season tentatively kicks off on September 12.
