Three Uganda Premier League clubs have openly expressed interest in acquiring the services of Vipers SC second choice lanky goalkeeper James Alitho on loan.

The clubs in question are Soana, Sports Club Villa Jogoo and Bright Stars.

Alitho’s current employment contract at the Kitende based club will expire in October 2018.

When contacted, the goalkeeper who has played second fiddle to first choice Ismael Watenga for now three seasons could neither confirm nor deny the allegations.

I also hear in rumours that some clubs want my services on loan.

Personally, I am happy at Vipers Sports Club and still contracted for another one and a half years

He did not rule out any possible move on loan provided the pursuers follow the right procedures.

Those clubs have to follow the right channels and they talk to my bosses for a possible way out

Head coach at Bright Stars F.C, also the Uganda Cranes goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba has of late expressed open interest in the Mbale born goalkeeper.

Kajoba has worked with Alitho on a number of occasions at the national team.

In fact, the coach (Kajoba) is a huge admirer of the goalkeeper whose exceptional game reading antics and ability to thwart aerial balls from crosses is his strong prowess.

Alitho has been part of the Vipers pre-season games (apart from the Azam match) and remains an integral member of Miguel De Costa’s plans ahead of the new season.

Watenga, currently with the Uganda Cranes for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, remains the undisputed number one goalkeeper at Vipers.

Alitho is Watenga’s immediate understudy with newly crowned East African schools champions Derrick Ochan and Eric Ochan all following in the pecking order.
