The national men’s basketball team, Silverbacks, will play a trial game against Egypt on Tuesday as they intensify preparations for the FIBA Afrobasket.

Foreign based players Stanley Ociti and A’darius Pegeus have already joined the team in Alexandria.

New coach George Galanapolous is also already in Egypt and will have his first chance of assessing the team after a competitive affair.

The Silverbacks will spend two weeks in Egypt before travelling to Dakar, Senegal for the group games of the Afrobasket.

To play at the later stages of the championship set to be held in Tunisia, Uganda have to pick at least two wins.

Angola, Morocco and Central African Republic are Uganda’s opponents at the group stage.

Uganda has not played Morocco and Angola but lost to C.A.R at their first Afrobasket appearance in 2015.

Samuel Kalwanyi, one of the foreign based players, will not make it for the camp but is expected to join the team for the tournament in Dakar.
