Barely 24 hours after he was officially unveiled alongside the club’s new players, Burundian coach Gilbert ‘Yaoundé’ Kanyankore was relieved of his duties at Rwanda Premier League side, Bugesera FC.

The former Rayon Sports, SC Kiyovu, Vital’O (Burundi) and APR tactician had signed a new one-year deal with the Nyamata based club.

The irony and surprise is that the Burundian had been only unveiled to the fans in Nyamata on Sunday.

Bugesera Secretary General Silas Mbonigaba explained the termination of Kanyankore’s contract as failure to fulfill certain clauses.

“The club has begun the search for a new head coach, but in the meantime, the assistant coach (Maurice ‘Maso’ Nshimiyimana) will be acting as the interim head coach until the club finds a suitable replacement,” Mbonigaba is quoted by New Times.

Ally Bizumungu is favourite for another spell at the helm of the club that finished 5th on the 16 team log with 50 points from 13 wins, 11 draws and six defeats.

The club has already started their pre-season training on Monday.

Bugesera will open up the new season against the Amagaju FC on 1st October 2017.
