KHC's vice captain Dulf Musoke

Two sides looking to assume the top of the National Hockey League will go head to head on Saturday when Kampala Hockey Club Stallions lock horns with Weatherhead at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo.

The Stallions had topped the league since the season started back in June, but Wananchi’s victory over Simba last weekend couple with their being out of action meant Wananchi toppled them on goal difference.

Both Wananchi and KHC are on 19 points but the former boasts of a superior goal difference. Weatherhead on the other hand, have 17 points.

A win tomorrow for Weatherhead will take them top of the table with 20 points while KHC need just a draw to return to the top.

Last time when the two sides met, the spoils were shared in form of a 3-3 draw in a game Timothy Ntumba and Ashraf Tumweigye starred for KHC. The two together with Brian Okodi have since switched allegiance to Weatherhead. The trio signed for Vincent Kasasa’s side a week ago.

They now face their former employers hoping to inflict damage on them. When KHC beat Weatherhead 2-1 on the opening day of the campaign, Ntumba scored the winning goal. Now he turns guns to the side he helped maintain the top spot.

Both sides need the three points if any of them is to try stopping Wananchi’s dominance. There’s no room for error for any of the two in their remaining games. Wananchi have won the league four successive times and have already joined the mix.

Like earlier mentioned, KHC are behind table leaders Wananchi on goal difference. Weatherhead lie third.
