Two sides looking to recover from their match day 2 defeats meet on Tuesday as Maroons take on URA at Luzira Prisons ground.
Saturday didn’t go well for the two sides. Maroons lost 2-0 to Onduparaka in their first home game of the new season while URA succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Jinja side Kirinya-Jinja SSS away from home.
Both sides had inspiring starts to the campaign, with the Prisons side unfortunate not to bag all the three points against defending champions KCCA at Lugogo, while URA edged UPDF 2-1 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, but unconvincing displays against their respective match day two opponents meant both suffered their first losses of the season.
Maroons on Saturday had a performance dissimilar to that against KCCA. The side hardly created meaningful chances, and their defensive errors cost them the tie. Head coach Asaph Mwebaze was completely disappointed with his side’s performance against Onduparaka, but hopes the mistakes made on Saturday are rectified.
Maroons remain one of the only four sides in the league yet to score a goal this term, but Mwebaze will be hopeful his boys find that first goal as they seek for their first win since their return to top flight.
William Wadri and William Kiibi shall be tasked to get those goals for the side that lost last season’s Big League top scorer Patrick Kaddu to KCCA.
For the tax collectors, Congolese striker Bokota Labama Kamana shall be called upon for goals. Bokota already has his name on the score sheet. The striker scored what turned out to be the winning goal against UPDF.
URA who were fined UGX 100,000 by the UPL Secretariat for receiving four yellow cards against Kirinya-Jinja SSS will be without goalkeeper Cleo Settuba and Henry Kisekka. Kisekka is yet to fully recover from a concussion he suffered in their game against UPDF when he collided with Joseph Othieno.
Former Maroons midfielder Hudu Mulikyi will also not feature in this tie. Mulikyi who returned to training yesterday also missed URA’s first two games.
