
Rwanda premier league club, Musanze F.C has completed the signing of Iddi Babu, a creative midfielder of Ugandan decent.
Babu signed a two year deal as a free agent having previously played at Arua side Onduparaka and Water F.C in Kampala.
“Iddi Babu is our last signing. We now have a completed squad. Now, it is about building a team strong enough to compete for top positions in the league,” Musanze head coach Sosthene Habimana was quoted by the Rwandan media.
Babu was the 8th player signed in the window. Goalkeepers Abouba Bashunga (Rayon Sports) and Andre Mazimpaka are joined by defenders Philbert Shyaka, Daniel Mwiseneza, Ghanaian born striker Leslie Lamptey, midfielder Japhet Imurora as well as forwards Suleiman Mudeyi (Gicumbi) and Burundian Franck Barirengako (Muzinga).
At Musanze, a side formerly coach by Ex-Uganda Cranes captain George Ssemwogerere, he joins Peter Otema, another Ugandan whose contract was renewed by one year.
There a number of Ugandans playing in the Rwanda top flight league.
Most notably goalkeeper Shamiru Batte and Frank Kalanda turn out for AS Kigali and the newly signed APR hard working right back Dennis Rukundo from Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club.
Others are Ally Mbogo (Kiyovu), John Ssemazzi (Espoir) and Benson Rahim Ociti (Kiyovu).
There are a couple of nationalized players from Uganda who settled in well in Rwandese clubs as Butera (APR), Farouk ‘Ssentongo’ Ruhinda (Bugesera) among others.
