Weatherhead will look to revive their title hopes when they take on Simba on Saturday in the National Hockey League.
Vincent Kasasa’s men were on a wrong side of a 1-0 outcome last weekend as Kampala Hockey Club Stallions snatched all the three points in the final minute of the game.
It was Weatherhead’s second loss of the campaign and it was one that meant they trail the top two by five points.
On Saturday, they will look to cut that gap to two points, with the top two – Wananchi and KHC – facing off on Sunday. Weatherhead should be able to do just that, with their Saturday opponent not a big threat.
Weatherhead beat the same side 7-3 in the second round. They are expected to dispatch the side in similar fashion on Saturday, and they win the contest, they will be praying for a draw on Sunday as it will leave them three points off the two.
Kasasa will hope striker Peter Elolu returns to scoring. He will also hope their new additions in Brian Okodi, Timothy Ntumba and Ashiraf Tumwesigye put in a shift. The trio didn’t impress against their former side KHC.
Weatherhead sit third with 17 points, five below Wananchi and KHC who are joint top with 22.
Simba, meanwhile, are seated fourth with six. The side has only two wins got against bottom side Rockets.
