South Africa’s SuperSport United qualified for the semifinals of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.

This followed a 2-2 draw aggregate scoreline against Zambian out fit Zesco United during the return leg of the quarter finals played at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

Zesco United took a 4th minute lead through John Chingandu who tapped home a telling delivery from Misheck Chaila.

Phala found the equalizer three minutes after the half hour mark but David Owino restored Zesco United’s lead on 50 minutes with a well drilled head off Fackson Kapumbu’s corner.

The game looked destined in Zesco United’s favour until Phala’s late equalizer to grant qualification for the South Africans who face either MC Algiers of Algeria or Tunisia’s Club Africain.

The Ugandan forward Davis Kasirye, who plays in Zesco United was not named on the day’s 18 man squad.

It is the first time that ‘Matsatsantsa’ have reached the last four of a major continental club championship.

Meanwhile, FUS Rabat qualified 5-4 via penalties after CS Sfaxien overcame a 1-0 loss in the first leg in Morocco.

The other two quarter finals will be played on Sunday, 24th September 2017.

Tunisia’s Club Africain hosts MC Alger of Algeria.

The Algerians carry a 1-0 lead. In Lubumbashi, TP Mazembe hosts Sudan’s Hilal Obeid. Mazembe won 2-1 from the first leg.

The other result:

  • CS Sfaxien (Tunisia) 1-0 FUS Rabat (Morocco).

* FUS Rabat qualified after 5-4 victory in post match penalties.
