Equity Haks followed their day one win against Don Bosco with a 56-51 win over KCCA Leopards at the on gong Zone V Club Championship in Kampala.

KCCA won the opening quarter of the closely contested game 14-12 but the Kenyan side responded winning the second period 18-15 to take a one point lead into halftime.

Leopards stayed locked in in the third quarter but their offense started freezing as the period elapsed and the trend continued through the fourth quarter.

Equity slowly but surely pushed the lead to double figures as Leopards offense went ice cold.

Roger Sserunyigo’s charges tried a late come but the Hawks held on for the victory.

Mercy Wanyama was KCCA’s tormentor in chief as she found no match in Martha Soigi, Muhayimina Namuwaya and Larrisa Katungeko.  The center scored game high 21 points to go with 14 rebounds, 5 off the offensive glass.

Hilda Luvandwa added 10 points and assisted on 6 baskets while Mjomba Samba scored 8 point, picked 6 rebounds and handed out 7 helpers.

Joy Chemtai was the only KCCA player who reached double figure with 12 points. Sylvia Nakazibwe scored 9 points while Cynthia Irankunda and Soigi contributed 7 points apiece. Namuway picked team high 13 rebounds.

KCCA will have a day off on Tuesday while Equity will be playing Somalia side Horseed.
