Kampala Hockey Club Swans will try to retain the trophy they won last year when the Independence Cup commences on Sunday at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo.
The Swans are not having the best of the season in the League. They occupy the second last position with 11 points collected from ten games, but will hope they can forget about their league form as they look to win this year’s Independence Cup.
Defending champions in the men’s category Kakungulu Memorial will not defend their title. Unless otherwise, the side has not confirmed participation.
Only fourteen teams including Naalya SS, [both boys and girls], Old Kampala and Kololo SS have confirmed participation in this two-day tourney that will end on Monday.
Teams were fired up to stick off the tourney this morning only for the event to be pushed to Sunday. UHA had confirmed Saturday as the opening day, but because the National Council of Sports decided to hire out the ground, the federation was forced to change the dates.
