Two sides struggling for form meet at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Tuesday as URA host Bul.
The game comes at a crucial moment for the two teams who both find themselves desperate to get their season moving in the right direction and move far away from the dreaded positions.
Having taken just four points from their opening five games, URA occupy the 11th position in the league. The tax collectors suffered defeat at Express last week and by so doing registered their second defeat of the campaign.
URA were one of the only two sides that scored in their opening game of the season as they beat UPDF 2-1, but the side has not seen the back of the net since then and have had good results hard to come; losing to 1-0 Kirinya-Jinja SSS before drawing goalless against Maroons and KCCA.
This fixture- against a side equally struggling- represents a good opportunity for the former champions to pick up some points.
“We have to forget about our previous game and focus on tomorrow’s match because it’s another chance for us to get a good result,” an optimistic Ibrahim Kirya said.
“We haven’t had a start we wanted and tomorrow’s game is a tricky one because both teams are in tricky positions and want to do well. We will hope we take the day tomorrow,” he added.
Bul’s state in the league currently is identical to their Tuesday opponents. The ‘Money team’ has won once, drawn twice and lost as many; the latest loss coming at the hands of KCCA over the weekend at Kakindu stadium.
They sit just a place above URA with four points as well and a similar goal difference of -1. It hasn’t been a merry start for the side, and Kefa Kisala who will be facing his former bosses says the struggling is because ‘players are new to each other’.
“We are still disjointed because the team is completely different from last season’s,” he said. “We retained only three players from last season. Players are new to each, but we have been fighting since the season started and tomorrow we shall continue to do the same; fight, while hoping for the best.”
Bul’s Musa Walangarira and goalkeeper Hannington Sebalunyo are sidelined.
URA will also be without three key players in Said Kyeyune, Richard Kassaga and Allan Munaba.
