The top honcho of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Dave Richardson will be in the country on Thursday next week.

Richardson will be visiting alongside the ICC head of Global Development William Glenright and Regional Development Manager Africa Patricia Kambarami.

On his maiden visit to the East African region, his visit will start in Uganda and end in Rwanda for the opening of the Gahanga Cricket Stadium.

While in Kampala he has a tight schedule that includes meetings with Ministry of Education and Sports officials, National Council of Sports and will conclude with a dinner at the Sheraton where he will interact with the cricket fraternity.

Martin Ondeko the Operations Manager of Uganda Cricket Association told us why Richardson is visiting Uganda

Basically, he is here to see how the game can be developed and possible support from the ICC. We are also having a dinner with him where we have invited our Sponsors, potential sponsors, some fraternity members, government, NCS and Club Chairmen.

The association has been a model associate for the ICC in terms of governance and this could be one of the reasons Uganda was chosen for the visit and the presence of the government officials can help them understand that sports associations need more support from them.

Denis has represented Uganda in international cricket events including the World Cup. He is currently the captain of Wanderers Cricket Club. Interwin Interwin INTERWIN Starwin88 ...
