Uganda has made some changes to its team that will play in the Cricket Builds Hope tournament that starts on Sunday in Kigali.

While the core of the team remains the same a few youngsters have been left out as they have slotted in players that the technical team is trying to test.

Perry Wazombe misses out in place for Fred Achillam who is back up wicketkeeper to Arnold Otwani while Cosmas Kyewuta and Trevor Bukenya miss out in the place of Bilal Hassan and Riazat Ali.

New national team manager Jackson Kavuma explained the changes

Bilal is a Pakistan quick bowler who has expressed interest in playing for us. He played in night cricket for Afridi XI. Riazat played also for Damani and he is young but most likely to go to Australia to study later in December.

Bilal is an additional bowler who has that extra pace that our bowlers don’t have for any opening bowler, Riazat adds that extra bat in the middle order.

There was change of Perry for coach felt he needed an extra wicketkeeper if Otwani got injured

The tournament is a lead up to the official opening of the Gahanga Cricket Stadium and will have Kenya, Uganda, hosts Rwanda and 5 invitational teams from the UK.

The team departs on Saturday for Kigali and will play its first game against Yorkshire XI on Sunday afternoon.
