Ceaser Okhuti produced a spectacular overhead kick as Onduparaka earned a 2-1 victory over Express to go top of the Uganda Premier League.

Okhuti, a second half substitute conjured an acrobatic volley that flew into the top corner to shutter Express who had looked more than capable of a third victory at Wankulukuku.

Daniel Muzeyi Sserunkuma drew Express level with a tap in midway through the second half after Onduparaka had gone in front shortly after recess through Alfred Leku’s tap in.

The Red Eagles began the match in confident fashion and showed why no visiting team had managed to score a goal at Wankulukuku this season, but there were no clear cut chances produced.

Although Viane sekajugo and Rashid Okocha threatened at times, Onduparaka struggled to gain a foothold, and the first half ended goalless. Shortly after recess though, the deadlock was broken.

Aggrey Kirya played a pass to Sekajugo whose pass found a well positioned Leku for a tap in. It was tough for the home team that showed far more verve than they did last season in the sides’ 1-1 draw at the same ground.

They, however, restored parity and victory looked possible for the side only for Okhuti to leave them empty handed with a goal of a stunning quality that will without a doubt be a contender for goal of the season.

Victory was Onduparaka’s second on the road and their fourth this term. For Express, the loss was their first at home this season and their third overall.

The Caterpillars return to Arua as league leaders with 13 points.
