Vincent Kasasa netted twice as Weatherhead edged table leaders Wananchi 4-3 to reduce the point gap at the top to two points.
Weatherhead went into the game needing nothing but three points to keep their title hopes alive and three points they got, with the trio of Kasasa, Timothy Ntumba and Moses Tushabe scoring for the yellow boys.
Kasasa led the way for his side with his fourth minute goal, and while Wananchi who have failed to beat Weatherhead in the league this season equalized through William Oketcha, Ntumba restored the lead for Weatherhead to end the first half on the driving seat.
Kasasa stretched the lead with his second of the day in the 53rd minute before Tushabe making it 4-1 almost immediately.
Although Wananchi tried to fight back, with Joshua Gumisiriza scoring twice late in the game, it was late for them to stage any kind of a comeback.
Victory was Weatherhead’s second against Wananchi this season. It moved them to within two points of their rivals.
