After a series of disappointing displays, Uganda C were finally able to edge an opponent again in the Africa Online Chess League.
The side found their match in Namibia B who are equally struggling and they came out the best team, winning 5-3 in the eighth round. The two teams first drew 2-2 in the first set but the Ugandans won the second set 3-1, with Isaac Munanira, Luke Benon Owii and Ivan Mukuye winning their games.
That victory lifted them up to sixth in the table standings.
Table leaders Uganda A stretched their lead with a 4-2 victory over Zimbabwe A. FM Patrick Kawuma lost both his sets, but David Muwanguzi was there to save the day as he triumphed in both sets.

Team captain FM Harold and his board one opponent didn’t honor the fixture, but Walter Okas got a bye in both sets hence the 4-2 victory.
It was a result that kept them top of the table with 39 points, eight ahead of second placed Nigeria A who sat out the round.
Uganda B maintained their third position with a 8-0 victory over Zambia A that came in form of a walkover. They sit nine points behind Uganda A.
To complete the current top five is RSA Juniors who also won their round with a walkover and Nigeria D who beat fellow Nigerians, Nigeria B.
