Vipers Sports Club head coach Miguel Da Costa sang Zaga praises after youngster Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye turned in a shift as the Venons ended KCCA’s unbeaten run at Lugogo last season.

This term though, it’s another youngster Baden Mujahid  that has come through the ranks.

Mujahid has been impressive in the Venoms competitive midfield that has the likes Taddeo Lwanga, Tom Masiko, Deus Bukenya, Brian Nkuubi, Moses Waiswa.

“I must say he is comparable to the best I’ve ever had before,” Da Costa said of Mujahid as quoted by the club website.

“He is really a promising player, and now he is at a stage where the first step is knowing that he has the quality.

“The second step is to continue to develop him through good coaching, and the third is to integrate him in the first team. That’s the most difficult, the integration into the first team because the competition is at such a high level in the Uganda Premier League that giving him game time is very difficult.

“This season is very important for some of the players, and this competition is very important for him as well.”

Vipers held Onduparaka to a goalless draw in their last league outing on Saturday and Mujahid started on the left of the midfield.

The two-time league champions who sit third on the table make a trip to the west to face Mbarara City on Friday, November 3 in their next game.
