Sports Journalists worldwide, like a couple of other professionals are a devoted crop.

Add to the nature of the demanding job, Sports Journalists endure all stormy prevailing environs to craft ideas and story tell in the best way possible with the due timeliness.

In Uganda, the idea of recognizing these unsung heroes was silent until last year when the Sports Journalists Choice Awards was conceived.

Eventually, the inaugural edition of the Awards was held last December with 5 categories recognized.

A year later, the same awards are back with more vibrancy.

On Tuesday, October 31 the 2017 edition of the awards were officially launched at Route 256 Restaurant in Lugogo Kampala.

This time round, the journalists will smile to a more glamorous event where the awards have been doubled to 10.

Leon Ssenyange, the brain behind the awards further hints about the prime objective;

The Sports Journalists Choice Awards are to encourage Sports Journalists uplift their reporting standards and also provide information that will be beneficial to the consumers of sports news.

For the second year running, the awards are only open to career local journalists (both print and broadcast).
