There were gun shots at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku as Bright Stars and six time league winners Express Football Club played to a non-scoring draw on Tuesday.

The exciting duel witnessed the home side dominate play right from the opening half although scoring remained the major under-doing.

Juma Ssebadduka had a shot kiss the woodwork in the opening 7 minutes with veteran Bright Stars’ goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge beaten.

Bright Stars’ left winger Hakim Ssekitto delivered a pinpoint cross midway the first half but Farouk Banga arrived late at the far post.

Express lead striker Daniel Sserunkuma had a chance at the death of the first half but the former Gor Mahia and Bandari forward shot off his weaker left foot. The attempt at goal left goalie Muwonge crawling on the dried up Wankulukuku grass as the ball sailed out of play for the last piece of action in the first half.

As the second half started, Bright Stars technical team called for the first change of the game. Former Buddo S.S and Masavu left back Ssekitto paved way for burly forward Seif Batte.

Goalkeeper Muwonge was quicker off the line to thwart a Sserunkuma cut back from the right 5 minutes into the second half.

Ten minutes into the half, John Kokas Opejo came on for midfielder Methodius Jungu.

On the hour mark, Bright Stars’ goalie Muwonge foiled Express’ move, getting injured in the process after a collision with striker Sserunkuma.

With 20 minutes left on the clock, the home team side called for their final amendments.

Jose Maria Lubega and Michael Birungi were introduced for Mubarak Nsubuga and left winger Sulaiman Jjingo respectively.

In the final 10 minutes, Victor Aweko replaced the hardworking Batte.

Sserunkuma eventually managed to score but from an off side position and referee Aisha Ssemambo Nabbiko canceled the goal.

At this moment, the Express fans at the far side of the pitch threw objects at the second assistant referee before Policemen at the ground fired in the air to disperse the rowdy fans.

Bright Stars secured their 5th draw of the season, good enough to elevate them to 11 points and  7th place.
