Asaph Mwebaze attributed Maroons’ 1-0 victory over Proline on Tuesday to their never giving up attitude.
Sidney Chika bagged the lone goal of the game in the first half as the Prisons side edged their visitors to record their first home win this season.
Despite their efforts to save the game, Proline were unable to turn the tables around, and Mwebaze, whose side now boasts of three wins highlighted perseverance as reason for their victory.
Mwebaze said: “We were very tenacious. The game was very difficult, Proline didn’t give us space, they kept on coming to us and of course the big players upfront gave us a lot of problems. They had two big center forwards giving us a very difficult time whenever the ball was there so we were just very tenacious.
“I think we showed that we wanted to win this game and we got the result that we came for.”
Maroons climbed up to fifth with the victory putting them to within four points of the top, but Mwebaze doesn’t want his boys to get carried away.
“This is not a statement or something, but it is working hard and trying to improve on a daily basis. Not letting the boys go to sleep or celebrate the victory first or getting very excited.
“We have to work hard in our next game and make sure that we can put up another resilient performance like this to get us more points.”
Maroons make a short trip to Namboole on Tuesday for a date with current table leaders Police in their next game.
