The departure of Naomi Kayondo has coincided with poor form for Tornado B ladies who have failed to win a game in the ladies’ league. Kayondo who has was captain when Tornado B won the league last in 2016 left for further studies in the UK and since then her charges have been in free fall.
The defending champions have lost to Wanderers and KICC and they badly need to find a win if they are to survive relegation.
They will face very tough opposition in Olila High who will be playing their 1st game at home in Jinja. Olila, winners of the T20 league this season, have been very competitive in their 1st season in the top flight.
Getrude Chandiru and Rachel Ntono changed address from Tornado B to Olila High this campaign and these two maybe one of the reasons Tornado B has struggled this year.
Felix Musana the team manager of Olila High explains how much this fixture means to them
It’s a big game for us for 2 reasons.
A win confirms our status as a top flight side and gives us a shot at going for the league but a loss against them drags us in a relegation battle.
We shall be welcoming back three of our S.4 candidates that missed the Jinja game and form core of our top order and it’s going to be about batting our 50 overs out anything over 150 will put us in a comfortable position if we bat 1st.For our game we know bowling is our strength so we have had intense work outs with our spinners and it’s time they stepped up and compensate.
We also want to provide exposure to our upcoming batters and 50 overs gives them a lot of time to learn and master their art both in batting and bowling so we shall not bring any Kenyan players for the game.
Tornado and Pioneer are in the relegation scrap with both teams without a win but a win on the road hands Tornado B a life line coupled with a Wanderers loss would mean that 4 teams will be dragged into the relegation battle. On the other hand a win for Olila High would confirm their stay in the league for another year while Tornado Bs Div 1 status would be in serious trouble.
