Mbarara City return to winning ways for the first time in five games with a 2-1 home victory over visiting UPDF at soggy Kakyeeka pitch.

Following a barren first half, Okorie Elieza and Brian Aheebwa scored for the hosts before Sulaiman Majanjalo pulled one back for the army side.

Elieza scored the opener in the 56th minute and two minutes later, Aheebwa doubled the lead with a sublime strike.

With twenty minutes on the clock, Steven Bogere’s men won a penalty that was converted by Majanjalo but their attempt to snatch a point yielded no gains as Mbarara City defended with solidity.

The win lifted the Ankole Lions to 10th on the log with 13 points while UPDF stay top from bottom with 6 points from 11 league outings.
