Police FC maintained their point lead at the summit after coming from a goal down to win 2-1 against URA at Namboole.

Hood Kaweesa scored a goal in each half to cancel out an early opener from Henry Kisekka.

Kisekka put the Tax Collectors in the lead after 17 minutes when he headed home off a well weighed Brian Majwega cross from the left.

The former SC Villa centre forward had a chance to make it 2-0 moments later but his low effort after beating the offside trap missed target by inches.

Police had earlier missed a good chance after Ruben Kimera cutback on the left found no connection in the area whilst Ben Ocen and Juma Balinya also came close.

The moment for the Cops to level came in the 42nd minute when Balinya took matters into his own hands, beat Sam Ssenoga and later Paul Mbowa and his shot was parried into the path of Kaweesa who scored on the rebound.

In the second half, Police Coach Abdallah Mubiru reacted first with a new introducing Shakur Makeera for Gift Ali and later Basan Saafi replaced Kimera.

Ibrahim Kirya reacted by introducing Richard Wandyaka as the Tax Collectors bossed possession but with no penetration.

The time to separate the sides came in the 75th minute when Kaweesa raced on to a through ball from Makeera and lifted the ball over the onrushing Alionzi Nafian to send the Cops into wild celebrations.

URA remained dominant as they chased the game for the first time but Police defended solidly and then resorted to counter attacks.

The final changes saw Mubiru withdraw Balinya for the more defensive minded Samuel Kayongo while Ibrahim Kirya went for it with striker Robert Mukongotya coming on for right back Julius Ntambi.

The final whistle kept the 2005 league champions afloat on the 16-team table with 20 point from 11 games while URA are now 9th with seven points adrift.
