The preliminary rounds of the 2017-18 FUFA Uganda Cup continued over the weekend with action across the country.
In Masindi, third division side Doves smiled home with an avalanche of a goals’ basket.
Doves whitewashed Railway 8-0 in a completely one sided encounter at the historic Masindi Stadium.
Amis Muwonge grabbed a brace before Gillian Kintu, Murushid Mugwanya, skipper Martin Tumwesigye and Walter Munguawani added the other goals.
Hesborn Mundia’s coached side now progressed to the semi-final stage of the Kitara Region (Albertine Group) encounter.
The region’s competition committee has already confirmed the last four ties will be played on Tuesday with the finals set for Saturday, 25th November 2017.
The successful club will qualify for the much competitive Round of 64 stage.
KCCA is the cup holder, having edged Paidha Black Angels 2-0 in the finals played at the Green Light Stadium in Arua last May.
The winner of the Uganda Cup earns a direct ticket to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.
As it stands now, no club is known as of now that will represent Uganda at the continental competition following turn downs from Paidha Black Angels, Express and later on Sports Club Villa Jogoo.
