Bright Stars required a spirited fight to earn a point at home over debutant side Masavu in the 1 all draw of the Uganda Premier League tie played at the Champions Stadium, Mwererwe on Tuesday.

Following a goal-less opening 45 minutes, the home side sought for options and means of energizing their side.

A double change that involved Moses Okot and Kokas Opejo taking over Remex Kasozi and Sula Sebbunza’s slots six minutes into the second stanza of the game was one of the thought of alternatives.

Unfortunately, the changes did not effect instant dividends, Bright Stars conceded.

Defender Akram Kakembo converted into his own net in the 67th minute following intense pressure from the opposition.

The home side remained focused and determined for the rest of the game.

First, their captain Nelson Senkatuka missed a penalty with less than 10 minutes to the end of the game.

In a brave show of resilience and spirited team work, the Stars kept the pressure.

Eventually, they found the back of the net in the added minutes of extra time when Senkatuka struck home from a free kick set piece, much to the delight of the home fans, players and the technical team members for the hard earned point.
