Katabi-Kitubulu smiled to a 2-0 win against Kagwilawo during the start of the 2017 J-Mukasa cup at Nkumba Kataka play ground on Thursday.

Following a goal-less first half, the game was lit up eventually in the second stanza.

Yasin Kibirige shot Katabi Kitubulu ahead in the 53rd minute.

Sula Patto doubled the lead 7 minutes later as Nasifu Muganga’s coached side grew in confidence.

This was the official opening game of the month long tournament whose main aim is to provide a plat form to show case talent.

Sulaiman Bbosa, a member of the Wakiso District Football Association (WADFA) was the chief guest at the exciting duel.

Bbosa lauded the main sponsor (Joseph Mukasa) for the initiative and thanked the participating teams.

According to the tournament director, Nasser Kyeyune, the tournament will be played on three match days per week until January, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The tournament resumes on Friday when team Aki plays Mazuwezo before Saturday’s double header.

J-Light will play Fimbo in the early kick off at 2 p.m and Five Stars shall lock horns with Mpala Parish in the subsequent game.

Prizes:

The winning team at the end of the tournament will smile home will a bull, a trophy and gold medals.

The losing finalist will be rewarded with a set of jersey, He-goat and silver medals while the third placed side will take a set of jerseys and bronze medals.

Each of the 16 teams registered for the tournament will be given a ball.

There are special prizes reserved for the outstanding coach, Most Valuable Player (MVP), best defender and goalkeeper apiece.
