The Afro T20 Cricket League is coming to Kampala from 8th-24th December and will be played at Lugogo, Kyambogo and Entebbe.

The tournament that will be played in the shortest format of the game and will feature international players from India, Pakistan, USA, West indies, Kenya and local players.

The tournament will feature 8 different franchises namely the Roaring Lions, Charging Leopards, Mighty Rhinos, Striking Panthers, Hippo Warriors, Raging Bulls, Royal Elephants and Rising Zebras.

The tournament is locally being promoted by Hanumant Kathkar under his Afri Sport Limited together with Gagandeep Singh of  Rising Sports PVT Ltd (India) and Arniesh Bhardwaj of Aussie Top Careers Recruitment PTY Ltd (Australia) under the flagship of Uganda Cricket Association.

The tournament an investment of over $2M will be broadcast on Neo Sports in India and PTV in Pakistan with a local partner yet to be finalized plus another broadcast partner in Dubai.

All franchise teams have been assigned local captains and the list of team coaches is yet to be finalized.

The local players have been categorized from grade A+ to C with grade A+ players earning up to 5M Uganda shillings and grade C players getting 1.5M Uganda shillings.

Local promoter Hanumant Kathkar says;

Christmas has come early for Uganda players as we have brought a tournament that is properly funded.

We are giving away $300 for every man of match for the individual performers and also $50000 for the winning team. We are also going to share up to $20000 to Uganda Cricket Association our local partners who are providing the facility.

Besides the financials our players are going to get a chance to mix and mingle with international super stars and this as well enhances our reputation as a destination of serious cricket tournaments.

We recently successful organised the Division 3 World Cricket League tournament and the success of this tournament will be a chance to show our competence in organizing tournaments.

The Kenyan players are doubtful for the tournament because of engagements at home but those that are available will feature in the tournament.

Uganda Cricket on their part were happy to be chosen as hosts of such a big tournament and they are hoping the rains can stay away so that people are treated to some serious cricket.
