- UCU Lady Canons 70-60 KCCA Leopards (Lady Canons lead series 2-0)
UCU Lady Canons moved a step closer to winning the National Basketball League title for a third year running following victory in Game 2.
Lady Canons defeated Leopards 70-60 on Wednesday night at YMCA to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven finals.
Leopards, loosing finalists in the past two years, started strong but Lady Canons made quick amends for the first quarter to end all square at 14 points.
The Mukono based university side edged the low scoring second quarter 10-9 for a 24-23 lead at halftime and a 40-37 lead heading into the final period.
Leopards let in 30 points in the offensive-heavy fourth quarter and are now in a difficult position to dethrone UCU especially that they are being crushed on the boards, struggling on the stripe and quickly getting into foul trouble.
Vilma Achieng led the way for UCU with 15 points and 22 rebounds. Ritah Imanishimwe scored 14 and Judith Nansobya chipped in with 10.
Moreen Amoding scored 13 points ad assisted 6 baskets for KCCA while Halima Nabusimba and Joy Chemtai scored 10 points apiece.
