2017 East African Parliamentary Games:
- Football: Uganda Parliament Team 7-0 Kenya Parliament
- Netball: Uganda Parliament Team 44-11 Kenya Parliament
- Athletics: Uganda won gold in 200M, 400M, 800M & 1500M

Aside deliberating issues of national interest before in the August house, Parliamentarians in the East African community reserve time every December to participate in sporting activities.
These sporting events are meant to break the hectic and demanding routine, provide a plat form to network and socialize as well as foster regional cooperation and mutual understanding amongst the member states.
This year’s games are taking place in Dar es Salaam city, Tanzania with football, netball, athletics and golf on the enticing menu.
On Monday, the Ugandan football team ran rout with a 7-0 drubbing of neighbours Kenya at the national stadium in Dar es salaam.
Skilled Kampala Central Member of Parliament, Muhammed Nsereko grabbed a hat-trick in the one sided encounter.
Nsereko’s goals came as early as the 8th minute, on the quarter hour mark and 20th minute.
Team skipper Allan ‘Bwiino’ Ssewanyana assisted all the three of Nsereko’s goals.
Aruu County Member of Parliament Odonga ‘Pogba’ Otto scored the fourth before assisting partner in crime Hamson Obua in the 25th and 32nd minutes.
Legislator Brian Arinaitwe then wrapped the business with a personal brace, 6th and 7th strikes that were assisted by Peter Ogwang and Nsereko respectively.
Ssewanyana, the Member of Parliament for Makindye West saluted the fighting spirit of the rest of fellow legislators.
As quoted by a web portal, soft power, Ssewanyana hinted on the essence of these games;
This tournament is intended to strengthen cooperation in East Africa. Our team is so far the best and we hope to win again
Meanwhile, Uganda maintained the dominance in the game with another whitewash in netball, humiliating Kenya 44-11.
Former Uganda national athlete, Julius Acon rewinded back the clock with three personal gold medals in 1500M, 400M and 800M races.
Mbwatekamwa also clinched gold in the 200M race catergory.
Uganda plays Burundi on Tuesday in the other football match.
Last, the games were held in Kenya.
