
Uganda Premier League champions KCCA Football Club will face Madagascar champions CNaPS SPORT in the preliminary round of the 2018 CAF Champions League.
This was confirmed on Wednesday at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt during the draws for both of the 2018 CAF Inter-clubs competitions.
The Uganda Cup winners will visit CNaPS SPORT in the first leg between February 9th -11th, 2018 with the return leg set to be played a week later (between February 16-18th, 2018).
The successful winner between the two clubs will face either Ethiopia’s St George or South Sudan’s Al Salam Wau.
Meanwhile, Uganda Cranes midfielder Ivan Ntege will return to the Champions League for the second year running with a different club as Township Rollers of Botswana take on Sudan’s El Merriekh.
Kenyan side, Gor Mahia, which is home to Uganda Cranes left back Godfrey ‘Jajja Walu’ Walusimbi shall take on Equatorial Guinea’s Leones Vegetarianoes.
Tanzanian giants Simba will take on Seychelles’ St Louis during the preliminary round stage.
Zambian champions Zesco United, home to lanky striker Davis Kasirye shall lock horns with Zanzibar outfit JKU Sports Club.
Another Sudanese club, Al Hilal will play Liberia’s Liscr.

It will be an all East African affair when Rwanda’s Rayon Sport entertains Burundi’s Lydia Football Club (Rayon Sport will host the first leg in Kigali).
Fifty-nine (59) will be engaged for the Total CAF Champions League 2018 and fifty-four (54) for the Total CAF Confederation Cup 2018.
Eight federations did not engage their clubs namely Cape Verde, Chad, Eritrea, Namibia, Reunion, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone and Somalia.
Uganda did not enter any club in the CAF Confederation Cup. This was after Paidha Black Angels, Express, SC Villa Jogoo and Vipers Sports Club all turned down the chance to represent the country since KCCA were winners of a double.
