CECAFA Senior Challenge cup 2017:
1st Semi final:
- Kenya 1-0 Burundi
2nd Semi final (Friday, 15th December):
- Uganda Vs Zanzibar – At Moi Sports Complex, Kisumu

Hosts Kenya Harambee Star became the first side to qualify for the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
Kenya overcame Burundi 1-0 in extra time at the Moi Sports Complex in Kisumu to qualify for the final.
AFC Leopards’ attacking midfielder Whyvonne Isuza was the hero with the match winner, the lone strike of the game after 7 minutes into extra time.
Isuza planted the ball into the top corner of Nahimana’s left from inside the area with Onyango providing the assist.
Kenya’s tactician Paul Put as quoted by Daily Nation hailed the competitive spirit of the opponents;
Our opponents were tough especially in first half but the boys kept on fighting and our persistence paid off with a goal in extra time.
We still have a lot to do having in mind that the team we play in the final will also be there by merit
His counterpart handling Burundi Ningeyukoa cried for the missed goal scoring opportunities;
Our plan was to kill off the match early on but we failed to utilize the few chances we created.
We exit the stage for the main title with our heads high considering the experience our opponents have.
We will try to finish third in the tournament
Kenya will now face the winner of Friday’s other semi-final match where the record winners and holders Uganda Cranes and the tournament’s surprise package Zanzibar Heroes lock horns in Kisumu.
The final will take place on Sunday’s final at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Uganda has won a record 14 titles.
