• URA 1-1 Mbarara City

Makweth Wol will be remembered by Mbarara City faithful as the man who scored the side’s first away goal in the Uganda Premier League.

Since earning promotion to top flight in May, the Ankole Lions had failed to find the back of the net on their travels, but Wol was on target on Tuesday as they held URA to a one-all draw at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The forward guided in Solomon Okwalinga’s low cross in the final minute of the first half to take his side into recess with the lead.

City’s shirt 14 had an opportunity to bang a brace, but his shot went slightly wide, and just when they thought they were headed for their first away win, URA equalized.

The Tax collectors scored late in the second half through substitute Denis Kamanzi, who headed in Sam Sekitto’s corner.

The former champions went into the game off the back of a better run of form having won two games in a row, and were the dominant side throughout the game, but it took them until the 78th minute to restore parity.

URA continued to put their visitors on the back foot and Henry Kisekka looked to force a late winner, but Mbarara’s defense marshaled by Asuman Alishe made sure they returned home with a point.

The draw lifts URA to fifth, while Mbarara remain twelfth in the table standings, just two points off the drop zone.
