Amidst the rain heavy storm that delayed the landing of Qatar Airways vessel which had the Uganda Cranes team on board for close to half an hour, the players and officials eventually set foot at the lake Entebbe International Airport at 2:25 p.m on Wednesday afternoon.

The national team was returning from yet another heart breaking CHAN campaign from Morocco aboard Qatar Airways on flight QR 1387 via Doha.

Uganda Cranes finished with a point and a goal apiece to take third place in group B behind eventual leaders Zambia and Namibia, but, above West Africans Cote D’Ivoire.

The group was warmly welcomed by the national teams’ officer Patrick Ntege Kaweesa and Finance officer, Muhammod ‘Blatter’ Kalema.

From the facial express of most players and officials aboard, there were signs of fatigue.

Majority of the players and officials still wore the heavy clothing that was carried to suit the chilly weather conditions in Morocco and most North Africa nations at this time of the year.

Luckily, that heavy clothing suited the rains that welcomed the team back home.

“It was a good learning curve for the team. The Federation will hold an official press conference after the CHAN tournament has been concluded with the head coach and FUFA President addressing the media” the FUFA Spokesman, Ahmed Hussein told the eagerly awaiting media.

To that effect, no player nor any other team official addressed the media concerning the performance of the team in Morocco.

Newly appointed head coach Sebastien Desabre did not return with the rest of the team because he sough to have a few day’s rest as he continues with the official duties of monitoring the players in Europe.

During his stay, the Frenchman is expected to interact with a number of players who ply their trade in Europe as Standard Liege’s Faruku Miya (Belgium), William Luwagga Kizito (Romania), Alex Kakuba (Portgual) and others.

“The coach has not been able to return because he has stayed back on official duties as he monitors and talks to some players about the project ahead of them” Hussein explained the coach’s absence.
