Sports Club Villa Jogoo won their first silverware of the new year after overcoming Kampala regional side, Kampala United.

The 16 time league winners won 2-1 on Liberation day at Villa Park, Nsambya.

Left back John Adriko scored a rare goal for the Blues to give Wasswa Bbosa and Paul Mutakabala’s coached side a first half lead as the opening 45 minutes ended 1-0.

Second half substitute Simon Sserunkuma assisted for Yubu Bogere to head home the second goal as the second half kicked off.

Kampala United pulled a goal back through burly striker Eddy Twine’s late penalty in the second half.

“We are progressing well after the double sessions and now the two games in warm up” Assistant coach Mutakabala noted after the game.

The winners (SC Villa Jogoo) took home a trophy and gold medals.

SC Villa had on Thursday defeated another regional outfit, City Lads 7-1 at Villa Park.

Martin Kizza (penalty), Abel Eturude, as well as strikers Alex ‘Benzema’ Kitata, George Ssenkaaba, Alex Ssemuyaba each scored a goal apiece before  Yubu Bogere’s brace crowned the day for SC Villa Jogoo.

Ali Okoto headed home past goalkeeper Chrispus Kusiima off Jonah Ogwang’s curling corner for the consolation of City Lads.

SC Villa will play their third game of the mid season break against Buganda Regional outfit, Azam Football Club.

SC Villa Jogoo is preparing for the start of the league second round as well as the Uganda Cup round of 64 match against Hope Doves at Masaka Recreational Stadium on 4th February 2018.

Meanwhile, the Uganda Premier league second round will resume on 10th February 2018.
