Team Sebuguzi has set it’s sights on the championship victory as the new National Rally Championship season gets underway with the Mbarara Rally this weekend.

Ronald Sebuguzi and Leon Ssenyange finished the previous season as runners up,  losing out on the title by only nine points.

Now the V-Power sponsored crew is focusing on an early victory this weekend to step up their title bid.

“We have gone through a couple of stages. But it’s going to be a tricky but very fast rally I must say,” said Sebuguzi’s co-driver Leon Ssenyange.

“It is smoother but one needs to be cautious. I think the most important part for us is to pick early championship points,” he added.

In the last four years, Sebuguzi has finished within the top four positions; registering a win in 2016 and finishing second overall last year.

“Our record in this event has not been bad. We really want to win this rally and pick on the form we had in the last event in Masaka and Festino.

“We believe winning in Mbarara this weekend will place us in a good position on the title chase,” he asserted.

Being a new season, all drivers are expected to have the same target as team Sebuguzi; winning the season opener.

“We expect that the competition will be so tight. We hear Mangat will be in, Lwakataka, Duncan with a new car and other top drivers all aiming for a win.”

“We hope the weather will be in our favour. Last year we rallied on wet routes for the two days.”

“If the rains come down. One stage will be so muddy but of course that’s the excitement of the rally and know how you go through and also the advantage you can pick from them,” said Ssenyange.

Sebuguzi will start car number two on the road.
