Michael Nuwagaba has been the Hon. Secretary by the Uganda Cricket board replacing Eric Kamara who resigned the role in December 2017.
Eric Kamara – who was also Wanderers delegate – cited a tight work schedule that couldn’t allow him to execute his role as the Hon. Secretary and therefore choose to step down.
Michael Nuwagaba joins the board as the Wanderers board delegate and he was unanimously choose by his fellow board members to take up the position as per constitutional guidelines.
It had been announced earlier that there would be elections for the position but a constitutional interpretation changed this position as the board is empowered to make an appointment incase of resignation of the Chairman or Secretary.
Nuwagaba who has vast experience in the corporate world will be a great addition to the UCA executive as they embark on a busy 2018.
His appointment was confirmed by the chairman of Uganda Cricket Bashir Badu at their annual AGM held this afternoon in Lugogo.
Nuwagaba is a former national team player with cricket roots from Ndejje SSS and has played locally for Nile Cricket Club and currently plays for Wanderers Cricket Club.
Top of his agenda will be finding a capable replacement for Justine Ligyalingi who leaves his role as CEO this year in March.
