African Champions Lady Cricket Cranes defeated hosts Tanzania in the first 2 games of their build up tour of the coastal nation.

The ladies are using the tour as a build up for the global qualifiers due in July this year at which they have a shot at the world Cup.

The spinning duo of Stephanie Nampiina (3/15) and Consy Aweko (1/25) restricted the hosts to 89 in the first match before Mary Nalule (30) and Rachel Ntono (19) knocked off the deficit despite losing 5 wickets in the chase.

In the second match, on her national team debut Irene Alumo (2/15) combined with vice captain Janet Mbabazi (2/16) to restrict the hosts to 81/6 in 20 overs with Rachel Ntono (22) and Saidat Kemigisha (22) completed formalities to win by 8 wickets.

The ladies took Monday off and will be action again on Tuesday against the same opponents.

Denis has represented Uganda in international cricket events including the World Cup. He is currently the captain of Wanderers Cricket Club.
