Uganda Premier League:
- Vipers 2-0 Mbarara City
Striker Daniel ‘Muzeyi’ Sserunkuma scored two first half goals as Vipers shot to the summit during their 2-0 victory against Mbarara City at the St Mary’s stadium on Tuesday.

The January 2018 signing opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a beautiful curl after good inter-play with Erisa Ssekisambu.
The diminutive forward was again on the mark 13 minutes later with a poke ball past goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekeba following spade work by the hard working right back and captain Nico Wakiro Wadada.
In fact, Sserunkuma would have scored a hat-trick had he converted a late second half penalty when substitute Ashraf Bamuturaki was illegally brought down in the area.
Vipers suffered a set-back with three injured players Moses Waiswa, Ssekisambu and goalkeeper Isma Watenga.
Frank ‘Zagga’ Tumwesigye replaced Waiswa two minutes into the second half.
Bamuturaki came on for Ssekisambu with 13 minutes left on the clock and James Alitho was a late change for Watenga.
Mbarara City missed a chance to pull at least a goal back when second half substitute Siraje Musindo hit the lower bottom of the post in a goal melee.
Referee Mashood Ssali booked Vipers’ Wadada as well as the visitors’ Sam Kansiime and Hillary Mukundane.
Vipers ascend the league summit with 35 points off 18 matches, two points better than second placed SC Villa Jogoo.
The Venoms, however, have play a game more than the Jogoos.
Mbarara City is 10th with 21 points from 18 matches played.
Sserunkuma was named the Fortebet man of the match as well.
