American music icon Jason Joel Desrouleaux, also known professionally as Jason Derulo has been entrusted with the singing of the official anthem for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Derulo is a famous singer, songwriter and dancer who has sold over 30 million singles.
The development follows the illustrious footsteps of Shakira, Anastacia and Pitbull who performed at the previous editions.
For the uninitiated, Derulo is the man behind such songs as ‘Swalla’, ‘Wiggle’, ‘Tip Toe’, ‘Bubblegum’, ‘Trumpets’ and ‘Zipper’.
The 2018 World Cup song is called ‘Colors’ and without even listening to it we can confirm it’s a banal paean to inclusiveness, global coming-together and superficial sporting positivity.
Global music superstar Derulo will be creating the soundtrack to its 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Derulo will also create the anthem “Colors”.
The song celebrates all of the vibrancy and excitement that comes with the arrival of the world’s biggest football tournament.
Top artistes from South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Uganda were also invited to create uniquely African versions of the anthem for each country to celebrate people’s passion for football through music.
“I was honoured to create an anthem celebrating every team and their fans. ‘Colors’ represents the different flags and cultures from around the world,” Jason Derulo said.
Derulo rose through the ranks and became famous worldwide after his debut single ‘Whatcha Say’ was released in August 2009.
It peaked at Number 1 in the US as well as New Zealand.
This song sold in excess of 5 million downloads.

Russia shall host the biggest sporting fiesta in the entire world between 14th June and 15th July 2018.
A total of 32 countries (from 5 confederations) shall play in 12 venues (in 11 host cities).
