Three Uganda Premier League players, Muhammed Shaban (KCCA), Fred Amaku (Kirinya-Jinja S.S) and Daniel ‘Muzeyi’ Sserunkuma have on Thursday, 1st March 2018 received their respective player of the month accolades.

Each of the three players were rewarded with Shs. 500,000  and a glittering plaque during a brief ceremony held at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole board room.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) forward Shaban was crowned as the best player in the month of November 2017.

Fred Amaku, a striker at Kirinya-Jinja S.S took home the December 2017 best player’s gong.

Dread-locked Sserunkuma, who only transferred to Vipers in the January window from Express was named as Februray’s player of the month.

Uganda Premier League CEO, Benard Bainamaini confirmed that following the expiry of the old contract, fresh negotiations are now underway;

We are proud of our partners for the effort to sponsor the man of the match and monthly accolades. Negotiations are on to renew the partnership deal.

This short term partnership was to test the waters and see how either parties can benefit. It was a win-win situation.

Bainamani also lauded the media as key stake holders in the process of developing the league.

He appreciated the players and the clubs, support staff, coaches, referees, the fans as well as the federation and the league board.

Fans conduct:

The league CEO used the opportunity to thank fans that have lived to the expectation of good discipline.

He however, warned the unruly fans that would scare away the would be sponsors and potential partners.

Fans should conduct themselves in a proper manner. Such sponsors and partners have been able to get attracted because of the clean record.

The results have been brought on board. We could see competitiveness on the field of play and promising standards from players

Shaban, scorer of the only league hat-trick against Soana believes this award will further motivate him to lift up his club.

First of all, I thank the sponsors and the league managers.

I also wish to salute the effort of my fellow players.

Without whom, I can not play alone. This award will motivate me to play better and strieve for higher aspirations in life.

December top player, Amaku hailed fellow players, coaching staff and fans for the motivation everytime he is named on the team to play.

Football is a group effort.

No one does it alone. I am happy for my playing mates, coaches and fans.

We are all one family.

In his appreciation speech, February best player Sserunkuma, scorer of a brace against Mbarara City (at St Mary’s Kitende) and the match winner at Soana singled out commitment, love and passion every-time he is given the opportunity.

Sserunkuma, who now leads the league scoring charts with 9 goals noted;

Football is my job. I have no other escape route. Therefore, I serve (play football) with all my heart, I also thank my teammates, coaches, fans and the media for the support in everything.

I look forward to scoring more goals and help my club Vipers to win the league title and the Uganda Cup.

The league will resume on Friday with two matches.
