The South Sudan Football Federation has recruited German-born Algerian, Ahcene Ait-Abdelmelek as head coach for the national football team, Bright Stars.

According to the Federation public relations officer, Daniel Gabriel, Achcene arrived in South Sudan on Monday morning to sign the employment contract.

The new coach for the national team Bright Stars Ait Achcene a German national, arrived Juba today (Monday) to sign the contract with South Sudan Football Association.

Upon arrival at the Juba Airport, he briefed the eagerly awaiting journalists as he lauded the warm reception accorded to him.

With the support of the South Sudanese in general, he targets to help move the national team forward.

Louis Abdallah on behalf of the SSFA Board of Directors, welcomed the head coach and wished him success in his new endeavour in South Sudan.

Abdelmalek previously coached the Burundi national team, Mali’s Djoliba AC as well as clubs in Europe.

He becomes the fourth foreign coach to handle the world’s youngest nation’s football team after South Korea’s Lee Sung-Jea, Serbian Zoran Dordevic and Uganda’s Leo Adraa.

Abdelmalek replaces  Felix Bilal Kumuyange.

His immediate task will be preparing for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Mali in September 2018.
