Charlotte Independence head coach Mike Jeffries has lauded the return of Uganda Cranes defender Henry Kalungi to the side ahead of the new season.

The star signed a new contract with the team after impressing last season to be named club defender of the year.
Coach Jeffries believes Kalungi will bring experience to the squad as well as knowledge on how to perform in adverse situations.
“Henry is so much a part of the history of our group and the successes we’ve had, so it’s good to have him back,” Jeffries the club’s official website.
“He clearly knows what is expected and has been a stalwart defender in the league for a number of years. It’s a real positive addition bringing him back.”
Kalungi will be playing his fourth season with the club previously appearing in 68 games with 5,538 minutes.
