Henry Ssenyondo has started repaying back Damani the money they paid for his left arm spin when he joined from Challengers after picking 5/23 in a 71 run win for the defending champions.

Damani won the toss and chose to bat but at 70/5, Strikers had their tails up against the defending champions. They lost all their key wickets for small scores and an 8th wicket partnership of 104 runs between Henry Ssenyondo (34) and Daud Rajani (113) helped Damani post a competitive 228 all out.

New signing Henry Ssenyondo never allowed the strikers chase take off. He made inroads in the strikers batting removing danger man Zephaniah Arinaitwe for 18 and Simon Oketcho for zero.

In a match where the tails for both teams wagged, Richard Agamire and Roger Olipa had a 54 run 8th wicket partnership but that only delayed Damanis win.

The introduction of Henry Ssenyondo back into the attack after the second water break finished off the game after he got Olipa who top scored for Strikers with 43 and the last 3 wickets could only add 8 runs to close out the game.

Strikers gave Damani a sign of what lies ahead in the 2018 season. The defending champions will have a lot of work to do if they are to defend their title.
