Emmanuel Obina scored the equaliser to salvage a point for Mbarara City in a 1-1 draw with URA at Kakyeeka on Friday.

In a fixture the hosts wanted to end a six match run without picking maximum points, they went down after 26 minutes when Charles Sempa scored for Paul Nkata’s charges.

In the second half, Sam Kawalya’s charges rallied to pick a point that may prove vital in their survival campaign thanks to Obina’s strike.

The Nigerian, former URA centre forward scored a penalty in the 62nd minute and despite the two sides pressing for the winner, the game ended one apiece.

A point leaves URA 9th on the 16-team table with 27 points while Mbarara City are 11th with 22 points, only three off safety.
