The visitors Saudi Arabia started their tour to Uganda on a winning note, managing to defeat the Chairman’s Select side by 7 wickets in a rain affected game.

An afternoon downpour had the one off T20 game reduced to a 7 over affair, the visitors won the toss and chose to bowl 1st.

The opening pair of Falak Sher and Zephaniah Katungi managed to put on 17 runs but the 2nd wicket partnership of Rogers Olipa and Katungi is what propelled the innings with the latter falling at the score at 44/2 in the fifth over.

If the Chairman’s Select batsmen had picked up more singles and found the gaps better while batting they would have posted a better total than the 52/4 they managed in their 7 overs.

The experienced Saudi Arabia batting line was more clinical in their execution of the chase as they picked up lots of ones, twos and made sure all bad balls found the gap.

Top score Imran Arif gave a straight forward chance to Roger Olipa which he put down at short fine leg after the miscued a bouncer from David Wabwire.

The emirates nation claimed the win with 9 balls to spare with Arif closing out the game with a six off the bowling of Falak Sher.

Though only 14 overs were played, the short game was good entertainment for the sizebale crowd that braved the afternoon downpour to go to Kyambogo.

The visitors will tomorrow take on the senior national side in a 50 over game to be played in Kyambogo.
