Yasin Mugume featured for 58 minutes as Rwanda champions Rayon Sport thumped Mozambique’s Costa Do Sol 3-0 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup play-off in Kigali.
In a thrilling game played at Amahoro on Friday evening, Rayon Sport scored through Burundi international Hussein Shaban Tshabalala who scored a brace and Kevin Muhire netted the other.
Mugume, the former Police FC midfielder started the game and was withdrawn for Malien Ismailia Diarra with the game at 1-0.
The win gives the Rwanda side edge with the return leg in ten days’ time and are on course to become the first side from the country to reach the group stages of any CAF Competition.
To reach this stage, Clube dos Desportos da Costa do Sol eliminated Juaneng Galaxy of Botswana in the preliminary round while they overcame Cape Town City of South Africa in the first round.
Rayon Sports dropped to CAF Confederation Cup after they crashed out of CAF Champions League at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the first round.
