Defending champions Aziz Damani faced an unpredictable Kutchi Tigers at the lake side oval in Entebbe and they passed the test with flying colors.
The last time the two sides met in the league, Kutchi Tigers were victors but the team that claimed the victory is so different from one that turned up on Sunday.
New signing Charles Waiswa is nursing an injury and Damani dont want to take chances so they added national team opening bowler Bilal Hassan to their already rich squad. He shared the new ball with Emmanuel Isaneez and were both very mean in their spells.
Batting all rounder Kenneth Waiswa (3/17) was the pick of the of the bowlers supported by Steve Tikolo (2/9) and Brian Masaba (2/25). Only Dhansuk Desani (44) made a notable contribution to the Kutchi Tigers score who were bowled out for 118 in 44 overs.
If the Damani batsmen had not been so causal in the chase, they would have chased the total for a loss of no wicket but none the less Saud Islam (38) and Steve Tikolo (26) took care of business completing a 5 wicket win for the defending champions.
Aziz Damani have made a perfect start to the defence of their championship winning their first two games.
Kutchi Tigers were playing their first game of the season and will not read so much into the loss as they get and get their season together.
